A fragrance absolute is a highly concentrated, intensely aromatic plant extract obtained primarily from delicate fragrance plants whose scent compounds are not suitable for classical steam distillation, such as jasmine or tuberose. Production usually involves solvent extraction, which first produces a so-called "concrète", from which the wax- and fat-free fragrance compounds are then dissolved using alcohol. After the alcohol has evaporated, the pure absolute remains, a profound and highly authentic essence of the blossom. Examples include jasmine absolute with its lush, floral intensity, and rose absolute, valued for its warm, velvety and opulent fragrance signature.
